For Cordwainers consideration
Built from
the sole up.
Bayley Bull is an emerging designer exploring footwear through remix, material play and bold graphic form.

Prepared as a focused late-entry enquiry for BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear and Accessories.
01 / Point of view
Take it apart.
Draw it again.
Make it yours.
Bayley’s work starts with close observation: a sole unit, a trainer panel, a found pattern or an unexpected material. Each is redrawn, rearranged and tested until a new visual language appears.
02 / The work, unpacked
Not pages.
Pieces of practice.
Each portfolio spread has been taken apart so the drawings, objects, experiments and working notes can be read on their own terms.
03 / Why Cordwainers
A practice ready
to get more precise.
Bayley is drawn to Cordwainers because footwear is treated as both an idea and a made object: something that needs imagination, technical discipline and an understanding of material.
The portfolio already shows the instinct to investigate construction, proportion and identity. The next step is to turn that instinct into resolved, responsible product through specialist making, critical dialogue and industry-facing practice.
04 / A continuing practice
Footwear has always been
the place to try things.
Across early sketches, digital studies and physical interventions, Bayley returns to the same question: what changes when a familiar shoe is pulled apart and reassembled through a different material, sole, colour or graphic system?
The work is exploratory by design. It connects trainer culture to drawing, garment, moving image and object-making—and shows a long-standing interest in redesign as a method of learning.
